Alpine Brass Festival, Bright 15-16th May Update
I am pleased to confirm we have sufficient numbers for this event to proceed.
The final cost per person is $225 which will include:
- Accommodation on Friday and Saturday nights
- Saturday breakfast, lunch, and dinner
- Sunday breakfast and lunch
- Non music activity supervision (duel 220m flying fox and 7m free fall slide)
- Band entry into the festival
The Valley Homestead
The venue is in Ovens, a speck on the map about 20km the Harrietville side of Bright. It is approx. 3.5hr drive from Newport via the Hume Highway taking the Snow Rd turn off after Glen Rowan. Food stops along the way are somewhat limited but include:
Food options on the way
- Fast food offer with KFC, McDonalds, Olivers, coffee
- Sandwiches, pies, burgers etc, coffee
Coles Express Euroa
- Located on the South Bound side of the freeway
- McDonalds, Mustafa’s Kebabs and other offer
Any other options require you to exit the freeway into town or wait until you get to Myrtleford by which time most places will be closed.
Arrival at the venue
I will try and get away early and be the first at the Homestead to meet you when you arrive at which time, you’ll be given your room numbers. This is a school cap type venue however most rooms have an ensuite which is shared between 2 rooms.
The program for the weekend is attached. Whilst attending families will be welcome to explore the Oven Valley at any stage (except when we need assistance getting kids to or from the festival) Sunday after lunch will be a great time to look around as well before returning to Melbourne.
Contact at camp
David Greilach, Vice President, will be the key contact for the weekend and can be called on mobile 0491 336 636 any time until midnight or 24hrs in an emergency.
Transport to Bright
As there are a number of children coming unattended, it may be necessary for some assistance with car-pooling. I will be working on this and will contact people where assistance may be required.
Behaviour at camp
All band members will be required to leave their mobile devices with the Vice President, David Greilach, before going to bed.
Parents, please discuss with your kids what’s I am sure you know is acceptable behaviour. This includes following the directions of camp supervisors and band committee members especially when it comes to bedtime. Yes, we want kids to have fun but not at the expenses of other attendees.
To be clear, any behaviour which is seriously unacceptable will result in parents being contacted to collect their kids or the kids may be withdrawn from activities until it is time to come home.
It is necessary for all attendees to complete the attached medical form. Non band members need only complete the allergies and dietary needs sections. The entire form must be completed for all band members.
