Victorian State Championships 2026 – Open C Grade

Hyde Street Youth Band had fun at the Victorian Bands’ League State Band Championships last weekend in Open C Grade, coming third in the largest Open C Grade of 10 bands that we can remember! Congratulations to all bands, and especially Box Hill Academy Brass and Darebin City Brass Northern Brass in first and second place.

How exciting to have 2 youth bands in the top 3 in Open C Grade at a State Band Championships, as well as 4 Junior Band entries and so many young people across all 40 bands across the weekend.

Thanks to our indefatigable MD, Phillipa Edwards. And thanks to all Victorian Bands’ League and all the volunteers for making the event possible.

Every person had a part to play over the weekend. From our youngest players to the parent helpers, the MDs and even the families that came along to support us. We ALL leant in and proved, once again, that having ‘Community, Mastery and Joy’ as our core values brings out the best in everyone!
