Australian National Band Championships – Junior B and Open D Champions!

It wasn’t enough to be declared Australian National Junior B Grade Band Champions; Hyde Street Youth Band were also declared Open D Grade Champions against bands from NSW, Queensland and Victoria! What a brilliant bunch of kids, we are all so proud of your commitment, energy, and teamwork!

A major highlight was playing ‘Summit’ written for us by Andrew Batterham through funds provided by our local council – the City of Maribyrnong. Congratulations to our Junior B musical director Andrew Wilson on your first time conducting at the Nationals, and how privileged we are to have Phillipa Edwards as Musical Director for our Open D band – the energy you give to the band and the future of brass education in this country is second to none and we are all the better for it.
