Victorian State Band Championships 2023

Hyde Street Youth Band had a fabulous time playing in Open D Grade thanks to the Victorian Bands’ League at the State Band Championships, coming in 3rd place! Congratulations to Ararat City Brass in 1st place and Boorondara Harmony Brass in 2nd place. We were so excited to share the stage with the awesome youth of the City of Ballarat Municipal Brass Band and friends at their first State competition in 7 years! The young people in brass are kicking goals. And thanks to our MD Phillipa Edwards for your guidance and belief in our kids!

Members of Hyde Street Junior Band also joined with Hyde Street Youth Band to win Junior B Grade under the excellent direction of Andrew Wilson and Bethany McAuliffe-D’Rozario! It was also a great pleasure to listen to the Youth Bands in the Junior C category – Wonthaggi Youth, and Richmond Youth Brass Band who played some fabulous pieces with great spirit and technical mastery. A fun day day with young brass players sharing their love of music!
